Pick the matching installer.
Use the official download page. Mac builds require Apple Silicon. Windows builds target x64. Linux builds target x64 with AVX2 support.
- Mac: open the DMG and drag Sidekick to Applications.
- Windows: run the setup EXE. Installation and launch on native Windows remain unverified.
- Linux: mark the AppImage executable using your file manager and open it.
The Mac and Windows packages lack native publisher signing. Review the download notes before running a preview.
Give Sidekick a model to talk to.
For local chat, set up Ollama or LM Studio separately and download a compatible model. In Sidekick Settings, select the local provider and model. The model needs enough memory on your computer.
Alternatively, choose a supported cloud provider and supply your own account details. Cloud use may incur charges from that provider. See Choose your model.
Try a text question first.
Create or choose a sidekick, then ask a simple question by typing. Add voice, screen sharing and connected accounts when you need them. Grant only permissions you understand and want to use.
If something goes wrong
Note your operating system, processor type, Sidekick version and the step that failed. Contact Retvest support. Do not send passwords, API keys or private documents.
