This packaging revision is unverified. It is not a stable release. A local chat model requires a separate Ollama or LM Studio setup and enough memory. Optional cloud providers can charge separately. Speech and OCR assets are included.

A few things to know.
Does Sidekick cost anything?
The current preview is free under the Sidekick Preview Licence. A local model does not require a paid AI subscription, but needs suitable hardware. Optional cloud providers set their own prices.
Can I use any model?
You can choose a model offered by a supported local endpoint or provider. Tool calling, vision and context support vary; not every model can do every task. See the model guide before choosing.
Is Sidekick open source?
The current implementation repository is private. Official compiled previews are public, with third-party notices and applicable source information. Third-party licences and rights in earlier GPL copies still apply.
Why does my computer show a warning?
The Mac app lacks Developer ID signing and notarization. The Windows installer lacks Authenticode signing. Download only from the official links and review the preview status before deciding whether to run it.
